Tenzia
Created in collaboration with Sellaton, Tenzia combines a bentwood chair component with a curved veneer lampshade. The position of the light source can be adjusted through a simple strap mechanism, allowing the material's natural flexibility to become part of the product's function.
Brief
Choose, and implement one of the given bentwood furniture elements from a given set, manufactured by Sellaton.
Approach
I wanted to emphasise the material's flexibility, so I chose the most bendy element.
Core idea
One identical extra element locked in place by only the tension created by the material's flexibility.
Formal variations in 3D
Exploring how the same bent element could be rotated, scaled and combined into different lamp geometries before committing to a direction.

Lamp shade connection
With a simple strap I found a simple solution for tilting the lampshade.
Creating technical drawings
Tenzia was exhibited at Eindhoven Design Week in 2025 - my first experience designing inside an existing manufacturing process rather than around it, which reshaped how I think about constraints as material for the concept itself.
