PIM ‘Bistro’
Developed as part of a service design course, the brief was to create a public community space for the Petőfi Literary Museum. Inspired by the metaphor of cultural consumption, the concept reimagines literature as something that can be experienced in small, approachable portions. Through playful interactions, visitors engage with literary content in a more informal and accessible way. Developed with Gergő.
Brief
How do you invite a broad public to engage with literature - without the formality of a museum or the commitment of a full book?
Approach
Gergő and I mapped the museum's existing visitor journey, then tested a 'cultural consumption' metaphor against it, reshaping literary content into small, bistro-style portions visitors could sample without commitment.
Core idea
PIM 'Bistro' reimagines the museum as a place where literature is served in small, approachable portions through playful interactions, lowering the barrier for casual visitors.
Verse dispenser
Poems and quote booklets broken down onto slips, which visitors can pull one at a time.
Literary Picnic Basket
Self-service themed literary collections.
Interactive literary puzzle
A room divider as an invitation - piecing together freed quotes and verse fragments.
Modular Furniture
With its foldable function, one unit is meant to serve as both chair and table, while remaining easy to move.
Working on PIM 'Bistro' was my first real service design project, and it changed how I approach every brief since - starting from the system and the sequence of experience, not just the object at the end of it.
